Hot market

As of right now, and for the past little while, the housing market in and around MTL is HOTTER than HOT! For the first time in a long time or maybe ever, we have bidding wars on the used homes for sale. Literally people are fighting for homes and throwing more money than the asking price.

If you're in the process of looking for a new home, maybe you've seen this first hand. One minute you're looking at a home, you call the realtor, and oops, sorry it's already sold. Homes are selling so fast, you literally look at the listing and it's too late. Hence why this so called bidding war is going on.

If you were debating whether or not to sell your home...we say DO IT! Do it now while the market is hot! From most of the articles we've read, the market should continue to increase in the following year as well.

Here's a little piece of advice! You might actually be able to get more home for your money as well. What we mean by this is, if you have a bungalow you could sell it and depending on the area you could get a cottage with garage for not much more than what you sold your 1 story for. There's actually reasoning behind this. Believe it or not, bungalows are more expensive per sqft than a cottage (2 story). I know, it's a smaller house, how could it possibly be more expensive?! For starters, bungalows are usually wider. And what does that mean? Well it means more of a foundation to pour, and also more roof to cover. 2 story homes are considered cheap square footage. Why do we call it cheap square footage? Well, the foundation is usually a smaller square, and then we build a second floor on top of that smaller foundation. And if you have a garage, you guessed it! Building on top of that is even more of a winning idea. Building upwards is always the most economical choice as opposed to building wide.
